Jávea is divided into three parts: the old town, “Jávea Pueblo”, the exuberant marina, “Jávea Puerto”, and the main beach, Playa de Arenal. In the enjoyable old town, you will be walking in a maze of small streets, through white houses with Gothic windows. The Gothic church, San Bartolomé, and the different museums, which date back to Roman times, are definitely worth a visit. With its 25 kilometre-long coast line, from the cape, the Cabo de San Antonio, till the bay, Jávea offers a great variety of beaches and bays, with the typical fine sand of the Costa Blanca. The Playa de Arenal, Jávea’s busiest beach, is located at the centre of the bay, and has a beautiful boulevard with many restaurants. Then, you should try the calm Granadella bay, where you can also snorkel and dive in its clear waters. There is also a nudist beach: Ambolo. Jávea is sheltered by the southern side of the Montgó, the so-called Elephant, an impressive mountain beside the sea of 753 metres above sea level. The brave walkers who reach the Montgó’s top will discover the nature reserve’s unique fauna and flora, and will be rewarded by an amazing view on the Mediterranean Sea, Jávea’s surroundings, and the Costa Blanca’s mountains.

The Cabo de la Nao encloses Jávea’s area with a 142 metre high light tower, on top of which you will have a view over the whole Costa Blanca.

Natural caves shelter at the steep mountain sides, where diving lovers can experience the amazing undersea fauna and flora. At the hinterland, you will be able to do nice walks through the wine yards and fields, with their typical houses and covered galleries. The latter are called “riurau”, and are the inspiration source for many modern villas.

Jávea also has a very busy festivities’ calendar with a great range of sport and entertainment activities. In September, they set free some bulls on temporarily built arenas. Young people who venture to enter the arenas have a bath in the sea afterwards.
