Salina Palace \u2013 is a 16th century palace of Plateresque period built as per Renaissance style. This was designed by the architect Gil de Honta\u00f1\u00f3n and Rodrigo de Mess\u00eda commissioned it. This was earlier a place for storing salt and its name came from it. The courtyard inside is irregular in shape and is adorned with figures that are twisted. This is used as Salamanca's Provincial Council\u2019s seat for the moment. Salamanca University \u2013 is a 13th century university of Plateresque period. This university is well known for teaching and learning throughout the world. This was founded in 1218. Its base is square and has a courtyard at the center with galleries surrounding it. Las \u00darsulas Convent \u2013 is a 16th century convent built as per Gothic style and was founded during the 16th century by Alonso de Fonseca, the archbishop. There is a nave that is covered with ribbed vaults as well as a polygonal apse. The interior is full of religious art \u2013 Don Alfonso de Fonseca\u2019s tomb, Archbishop Francisco Rivas\u2019s butler\u2019s tomb. Roman Bridge \u2013 is a first century bridge having 26 arches that span over the Tormes River.\u00a0 According to some historians this bridge was constructed by Marcus Ulpius Traianus in the first century A.D. It crosses the river where it is very broad and the subsoil under the bridge is rocky. The length of the bridge is 176 M and it has a width of 3.7 M. Salamanca Plaza Mayor Square \u2013 is an 18th century square built in Baroque style and the architect was Alberto Churriguera. The City Hall is situated on the northern side; this building is a Baroque and is provided with five arches made from granite. It has been decorated with a number of medallions \u2013 Charles I, Ferdinand VI, Alfonso XI, St. Theresa and Cervantes. The buildings have 3 storey high facades and have balustrades and semicircular arches. Other monuments in this place are \u2013 18th century Anaya Palace, 17th century La Clerec\u00eda building, 13th century San Esteban Church and Monastery, 12th century San Mart\u00edn Church, 12th century San Marcos Church, 17th century La Pur\u00edsima Church, etc."}
