Extremadura<\/strong><\/a> is a part of Spain that is far removed from the crowded Costas – both in character and kilometers. The place accounts for being the most sparsely acquired regions in the country, almost of the size as that of Belgium.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since the place is quite away from the coast, it is not crowded by mass of tourists. This region of Iberian Peninsula is visited by very few tourists whether foreign or Spanish. Extremadura is the western part of Iberian Peninsula such that it is sandwiched between La Mancha and Portugal. The place has little appeal but for anyone who is seeking for a real Spanish flavor, Extremadura offers an extraordinary and unforgettable journey of discovery.<\/span><\/p>\n

Extremadura is an unspoiled land of majestic mountains, lush forests and vast agricultural plains that is peppered with hamlets and towns ostensibly frozen in time. The place has world heritage sites and a wealth of protected nature reserves swarming with wildlife. Extremadura is a place that is perfect for explorers, wanderers and history buffs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Extremadura is divided into two provinces – Caceres and Badajoz. These places were of extreme importance to Roman Empire, Christian conquistadors and Moorish Sultans. Extremadura’s turbulent past’s evidence leaches out of countless palaces, castles, aqueducts and medieval monument\u2019s walls. These monuments have weathered through the many storms that passed over this place from centuries.<\/span><\/p>\n

Other than the fortified walls of Extremadura\u2019s historic cities, one can find infinite tracts of unspoiled countryside that attracts romancing couples from all over the world. An extraordinary sight that attracts bird watchers is Extremadura\u2019s huge population of storks. They build their enormous nests over the top of everything from medieval monuments and telegraph poles to convent roofs and church spires. Extremadura<\/strong><\/a> is believed to have homes of approximately 11,000 storks along with a number of rare and cosseted bird species.<\/span><\/p>\n

Roman Temlpe Merida<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Merida<\/strong> \u2013 The place preserves several of the most stupendous Roman monuments, including an amphitheatre, a colossal theatre, a bridge and two aqueducts, not to overlook the Roman Art Museum that has some invaluable collection.<\/span><\/p>\n

Caceres<\/strong> – Upper Extremadura\u2019s capital has a fine-looking old quarter that is enclosed by the walls of Moorish town with watch-towers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Trujillo<\/strong> \u2013 It is the birthplace of a famous conqueror named Pizarro. The place is well known the beautiful main square it has.<\/span><\/p>\n

Guadalupe<\/strong> \u2013 A town dominated by an enormous Mudejar style monastery that still preserves the valuable art works.<\/span><\/p>\n

Badajoz<\/strong> \u2013 It is the Lower Extremadura\u2019s capital that is worth a visit. Moorish Alcazaba, watch towers and town-walls are the main attractions.<\/span><\/p>\n
