If you are visiting Spain<\/a><\/strong>, do not forget to visit this place. This city is \u2018beautiful and splendid\u2019. This city occupies a strategic position for trading. In fact Romans were aware of its potential as the best trading centre to trade in the famous Spanish olive oil, wheat and wine. <\/span><\/p>\n

These were transported to Rome from this city Cordoba<\/strong>. To help the trade and transport of the materials, Romans built a bridge which is now named as \u2018El Puente Romano\u2019 bridge. It was during the Christian era that magnificent churches and arches were built. The existing mosque was retained and many beautification works were undertaken.<\/span><\/p>\n

The city is located on the southern side of Spain<\/strong><\/a>. This is a moderate city with an estimated population of about 500000. There are many places of historical importance in and around the city. The city has a Mediterranean climate with temperature going up to 40 degree during summer.<\/span><\/p>\n

A mosque cathedral was also built after the exit of Romans. In fact, this is one of the priceless possessions of Spain<\/strong><\/a>. For the purpose of protection of the city, Christians built a fort called the Alcazar. There is another fort called the Calahorra Fort which is believed to have been built by Arabs. It is believed that this fort was built to guard the bridge built across the river Mezquita.<\/span><\/p>\n

There is a most spectacular building housing the museum of Jews called the La Juder\u00eda. The city has small villages with narrow cobbled streets. Cordoba<\/strong> also has many parks where rare species of trees and plants can be seen. Some of the other places of interest include Walcha cave and church Fernandine and Alphonsine church which were all built centuries ago. The palace of Viana is yet another important place which should never be missed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Those who visit the city during May can witness the famous May festival. The city is well connected by local bus and train from Barcelona<\/a>, Madrid, etc. The city has rows and rows of shops for shopping. The restaurants serve most delicious wine and other local specialty food. The most ideal place for a holiday, Cordoba<\/strong> has many apartments, villas and hotels which offer luxurious stay at the most economical rates.<\/span><\/p>\n
