\"\"<\/a><\/span>Palma<\/strong><\/a>, capital of the Mallorca Islands with a population of about 300000 inhabitants owes its history to about 120 BC. Perhaps many of the intelligentsia and leaders of Spain were so impressed by the natural beauty of Palma, they have built some of the most wonderful buildings, churches etc which are actually feather in the cap of Palma. There are lots of places to see and enjoy in Palma<\/a><\/strong>. Some of the places are briefly introduced here:<\/span><\/p>\n

The walls<\/strong><\/a>: During the medieval period there was a necessity for the inhabitants to protect their territory from invaders. So, they designed and built a wall around the city. These ancient people are so ingenious that they apart from building the wall, also built observatory posts on the wall. To reach the wall they built steps at strategic places. The wall has path way for the soldiers to move men and material. On the top of it, the walls are so strong that it has survived even several centuries after they were built. <\/span><\/p>\n

Palace<\/strong>: This palace Palau de l’Almundaina is believed to have been built in the 14th century at the place where the Arabs had built a fortress. Part of the palace is being used by the Royal heirs of Spain and the other part is open to public. There is a garrison for the soldiers to rest and there is an armory also. This beautiful palace is certainly worth visiting.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Banys Arabs<\/strong>: Archeologists believe that this was actually an Arab bath house called as \u2018hamman\u2019. This imposing building with small chamber but high doom has floor conducive to be used as a under floor heating. There is very beautiful but small garden with attractive furniture.<\/span><\/p>\n

Festivals<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n

If you are visiting Palma<\/strong><\/a>, just program your visit to January because you will be lucky to witness the great festival celebrated in honor of Saint Antoni. In this, people in most beautifully colored dresses ride horse and seek the blessing of great Saint Antoni. Actually they pray the Saint to bless the animals.\u00a0 Immediately after this festival, Saint Sebastian festival is held which is attended by thousands of people. In this festival there will be music, dance and streets being illuminated and there will be fireworks etc which makes Palma<\/strong><\/a> a paradise.<\/span><\/p>\n

Shopping and stay<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n

For shopping one can just walk in to Placa Cort which is actually a shopping area. For stay you can opt for villas and hotels.<\/span><\/p>\n
