Located near the town of Asturian, this town is placed at a most advantageous position in between Cordilera Mountain and the Bay of Basque in the Costa Vasca and the Costa Verde. <\/span><\/p>\n

According to historians, this region was under the control of Romans and Moors. During this period, many castles and churches were built and most of these structures are preserved and they are the star attractions for those who visit this city. Due to its geographic location, this town is at the pinnacle of its natural beauty.<\/span><\/p>\n

This church is believed to have been built by a Christian community living in Moslem, Spain. Therefore architecture used in building this Church is called as Mozarab architecture. This church is believed to have been built in the 10th century. This spectacular building is never missed by any visitor.<\/span><\/p>\n

Santo Toribio Monastery: <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

This is one of oldest monasteries of Spain. This monastery is believed to have been built in the 6th century. This place is said to be the home of masterly miniature art of the monk Beato who stayed here during the medieval period. There is a church in this monastery which is built in typical Gothic architecture. This church was renovated in the 18th century. A chapel was built here where the largest true cross of Christ called Lignum Crucis is housed. So this is one of the most revered churches of Spain.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are many villages around Cantabria<\/strong><\/a>. Some of the villages which one comes across are Brez, Arguebanes, Mogrovejo and Tanarriou. The buildings in these villages are in typical medieval architecture. The small lanes of these villages with cobbled roads surrounded by the great mountains present a most spectacular picture. These villages have many shopping areas where traditional works of art are sold.<\/span>
