The range extends to a length of 450 km and the peaks reach up to 3000 meters. It has many beautiful scenes along with rich cultural heritage hidden within it.<!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Tourist attractions<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>San Juan de la Pe\u00f1a Monastery<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The monastery dates back to the 10th century and originally consisted of a single monastery which was built in Romanesque style. However in the 17th century, a fire resulted in the rebuilding and construction of another monastery which was built in Baroque style. The place is famous for Romanesque Cloister which is an excellent piece of architecture and a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.clubvillamar.com\/villas\/spain\/costa-brava\/empuriabrava\/murcia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>ttracts tourists.<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.clubvillamar.com\/villas\/spain\/costa-brava\/empuriabrava\/lucanor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Roncesvalles Royal Collegiate Church<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This church resembles the N\u00f4tre Dame cathedral which is situated in Paris. The church is built in Gothic Style and the main purpose for the construction of the church was to help the pilgrims going to Saint James.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The church also has many halls among which one has been made a museum for keeping and storing 13th century art works. Along with this, attractive pieces of metalwork can be found here. The church also contains a silver statue of Virgin Mary with Child; the chess set which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clubvillamar.com\/villas\/spain\/costa-brava\/empuriabrava\/setenil\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>belonged to Emperor<\/strong><\/a> Charlemagne and many such pieces of cultural importance. The walls of the church are beautifully decorated with mural painting which dates back to the 13th century.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Dormant volcanoes and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clubvillamar.com\/villas\/spain\/costa-brava\/santa-coloma-de-farners\/poetry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">volcanic regions<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">There are a large number of dormant volcanoes spread out between the Pyrenees peaks and the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.clubvillamar.com\/villas\/spain\/costa-brava\/sant-antoni-de-calonge\/apartment-las-vegas-2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong> Costa Brava<\/strong><\/a> beaches. The volcanic areas present are beautiful and they are not just covered by dust and ash but are also packed with ancient houses and castles that attract tourists. Some of the volcanic areas are:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Garroxta volcanic area which is also a nature reserve consists of thirty volcanoes and was formed more than 11,000 years ago. Lava laid plains, forests over these plains, streams, the beaches and the basalt walled gorges provide a spectacular view for the tourists. The area has a number of villages like Santa Pau, Batat and Castellfollit de la Roca which provide picturesque scenes. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clubvillamar.com\/villas\/spain\/costa-brava\/sant-antoni-de-calonge\/sant-jordi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>village of Castellfollit<\/strong><\/a> de la Roca is located on a huge basalt gorge and its beauty increases when viewed from a helicopter. Other than these villages, a beach forest can also be found here which is the home for large varieties of birds and reptiles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.clubvillamar.com\/villas\/spain\/costa-maresme\/fogars-de-la-selva\/admirada\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Parque Natural de Bardenas Reales<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It is a semi-desert and is characterized by plains, terrains, cliffs and gypsum ravines. It was formed by the action of water on soil. It is a biosphere reserve as declared by the UNESCO. Large number of animals and birds can also be found in this area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>National Parks<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Aig\u00fcestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park and the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park are the two national parks here.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The parks are characterized by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clubvillamar.com\/villas\/spain\/costa-maresme\/fogars-de-la-selva\/sage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>beautiful waterfalls<\/strong><\/a> and torrents. The beauty of the landscape with rocky ridges and peaks is worth watching. From mid June to late September is the perfect time for Horse Riding, Walking and Cycling. If you are a fan of extreme sports, it would be the perfect time for you to do some parachuting, rafting or hang gliding. From November till Easter is the time reserved for the Ski season.  Transport:  You can travel to The Pyrenees by air, road or rail. There are many flights from all over Europe to Barcelona, Biarritz, Bilbao, Toulouse, Perpignan, Carcassone or Lourdes. If you are traveling from the UK, you can use the Channel Tunnel and the Euro tunnel to travel by car, train or bus. You can also take two ferry services (Portsmouth to Bilbao and Plymouth to Santander). For some of you, car rental may be the best way to explore the Pyrenees.  Important information:  Business hours are from 9.30 a.m. till 1.30 p.m. and from 4.30 p.m. till 8.00 p.m. (Monday to Saturday). Shopping centers work from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. or 10 p.m. In high season, shops are usually open after 10 p.m.  For 40 Euros per day, you can find modest hotel rooms. Staying in some of the best hotels, renting a car and eating in some of the best restaurants can cost you at least 100 Euros per day. You can use your credit or debit cards in hotels, restaurants and for train tickets. But be aware of large number of thefts. Every year hundreds of thousands of credit cards go missing in Spain!  It is common to leave a tip in restaurants or in bars.  Spoken languages in The Pyrenees are Spanish, Basque, Aragonese and Catalan.  Sports and Activities:  The Pyrenees have many spas such as Torremirona, Caldes de Malavella, Santa Coloma de Farnes and Las Caldes de Boi. Situated near cities with a long history and with their medicinal waters, these spas are perfect places to visit. The Pyrenees is the ideal destination for playing golf.   For those who like rowing, Banyoles is the perfect place to visit. Since it is situated 20 km north of Girona and Banyoles, it is also a lovely place for excursions and hiking. The Pyrenees have many cycling routes.  The most popular is The Vias Verdes. Removed from traffic, it is perfect for cycling and long walking. Plenty of rivers and diversity of fish attract people who love fishing.
