\nAlmodovar was 16 years old when he left the unperceptive city of C\u00e1ceres and came to modern Madrid.\u00a0It was a time when he made eight short films. To financially support his film hobby, he would sell secondhand\u00a0goods on the most famous Madrid flea market –\u00a0Rastro.\u00a0In each film, Almodovar incorporates part of himself; each of them has an autobiographical line, so is the case with the Rastro. <\/strong><\/p>\n

In the movie\u00a0Labyrinth of passion\u00a0(Laberinto de Pasiones, 1982) young Cecilia Rot and Antonio Banderas walk down this flea market. In addition, in the movie\u00a0Dark Habits\u00a0(Entre tinieblas, 1983), nuns sell miracle cakes made from the blood of Jesus at the same market. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The market is open every Sunday and every national holiday from 9 a.m. till 3 p.m.\u00a0About 11 a.m. there is complete chaos.\u00a0Stalls are located along the square, Plaza de Cascorro and Ribera de Curtidores.<\/p>\n

Dirty quarter Chueca <\/strong>
\nChueca\u00a0has always been a place known for prostitutes and drug addicts, as it is shown in the\u00a0 movie\u00a0tie me\u00a0(\u00a1atam!, 1989\u00a0), in which Rick is trying to get some opiates for Marina.<\/p>\n

Today Chueca has grown as a hyper-popular gay district with numerous shops, restaurants and bars.\u00a0There is also a 150 years old tapas bar. Almodovar says that it is one of the best anti-depressants he knows. Nearby is the\u00a0La Bardemcilla, a restaurant owned by Javier Bardem, who acted in 3 of Almodovar\u2019s films. <\/strong><\/p>\n
