Founded in 1932, the Provincial Archaeology Museum was originally hosted by the basement of a building in Alicante; few knew about its existence but due to the fact that it displayed important objects found in the archaeological sites in Alicante El Campello and even Torremanzanas<\/strong>, a decision was taken so that the museum was moved to a larger and more spacious building that used to belong to the San Juan Hospital.<\/p>\n

The museum offers tourists the possibility to see objects dating back to the Paleolithic Age<\/strong> and it also displays some of great importance for the modern age; this is the reason why the museum is known as being among the most important ones of its kind in Spain.<\/p>\n

This famous collection is displayed along the spacious halls of the popular Santa Barbara Castle. The collection is actually the largest containing Spanish contemporary sculptures in the world. Starting with the late 19th century and finishing with the 20th century, the collection contains all the important sculptures that attracted the attention and interest of Eduardo Capa.<\/strong><\/p>\n
