During the <strong>1992<\/strong> <strong>Olympic Games, <\/strong>Banyoles was in the spotlight during the <strong>rowing<\/strong> <strong>competition<\/strong> which took place on its lake. Banyoles is surrounded by a <strong>beautiful landscape<\/strong> of fields and small hamlets. In other words, it is the ideal departure point for a walk or a bicycle ride.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Cadaqu\u00e9s<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> Cadaqu\u00e9s is a <strong>picturesque village, <\/strong>where many artists and intellectuals live. You will find <strong>art galleries<\/strong> everywhere and you will encounter unusual houses in the shape of cubes, including the former home of Dal\u00ed, or <strong>churches <\/strong>with baroque details.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Figueres<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> The main street, called<strong> La Rambla<\/strong>, will impress you with its neoclassical and modernist buildings. The largest building is the <strong>Teatro-Museo Dal\u00ed<\/strong>, with works of art and paintings by the renowned and unique Salvador Dal\u00ed.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Girona<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> Girona\u2019s cathedral is the highest building in the Old City, the <strong>Barri Vell<\/strong>. Its ruins are of interest because of their sheer size and their<strong> good state of preservation<\/strong> (people lived here from the 6th to the 2nd century BC).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Places of interest on the Costa Brava and its historical \/ cultural heritage<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The <strong>Costa Brava<\/strong> has a rocky coastline, <strong>long beaches<\/strong> and green inland countryside which reaches as far as the <strong>Pyrenees<\/strong>. The seabed is filled with <strong>magnificent corals <\/strong>and there is an <strong>impressive natural park <\/strong>called the<strong> Medes Islands <\/strong>(Islas Medas or Medes Isles).
