It was an unforgettable holiday that should have lasted a week longer. In those days,\u00a0<strong>Majorca<\/strong>, in Catalan\u00a0<strong>&#8220;Mallorca<\/strong>&#8220;, was already a top-location for tourists. Families with and without children booked their holiday to this\u00a0<strong>family-friendly paradise\u00a0<\/strong>and troops of young people were longing to have a night out in the famous clubs of\u00a0<strong>Palma de Mallorca<\/strong>. The attraction of Mallorca is still very intense. And the big question is: &#8220;What makes Majorca your perfect holiday destination?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Majorca offers you all kinds of activities. You can either enjoy the\u00a0<strong>splendour of sport,<\/strong><strong>nature and culture<\/strong>\u00a0or get tanned on one of the beaches. What makes your holiday successful?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Perhaps\u00a0<strong>relaxing<\/strong>\u00a0under the Spanish sun in the garden of your villa while your kids are having a refreshing dive in your own swimming pool?<\/li>\n<li>Having a\u00a0<strong>spectacular day<\/strong>\u00a0trip to Soller with the electric train that goes along the west coast of Majorca and visiting one of the picturesque villages?<\/li>\n<li>Partying in the\u00a0<strong>vibrant night-life<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0<strong>Palma de Mallorca, el Arenal or Magaluf<\/strong>? &#8211; Feeling close to the local population on one of the terraces in<strong>\u00a0Alcudia<\/strong>?<\/li>\n<li>Conquering the<strong>\u00a0undersea world<\/strong>\u00a0of Mallorca while\u00a0<strong>snorkelling<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong>diving<\/strong>\u00a0and trying other\u00a0<strong>water sports<\/strong>?<\/li>\n<li>Or maybe watching your kids having a\u00a0<strong>wonderful time<\/strong>\u00a0in one of the\u00a0<strong>water parks<\/strong>(Marineland, Aqualand or Western Water Park) or building sandcastles on the beach<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The good thing is that this is\u00a0<strong>Mallorca<\/strong>! With its\u00a0<strong>charm<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>versatility<\/strong>\u00a0Mallorca has conquered the whole world and is still one of the\u00a0<strong>most popular<\/strong>\u00a0holiday destinations in Europe. The local government does its very best to\u00a0<strong>protect the nature<\/strong>\u00a0and traditional buildings, instead of replacing them.<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy the\u00a0<strong>Spanish life<\/strong>\u00a0on Mallorca. Imagine that you&#8217;re on the beach of Portals Nous, a<strong>\u00a0gold-coloured sandy beach,<\/strong>with\u00a0<strong>turquoise water<\/strong>\u00a0and as apogee, on one side,<strong>\u00a0palm trees<\/strong>\u00a0and, on the background, an area of dunes. The\u00a0<strong>perfect holiday paradise<\/strong>\u00a0where you can enjoy a delicious picnic, play a match of beach volleyball or, equipped with your snorkel, fins and goggles, you can discover the undersea world.<\/p>\n<h4><a class=\"btn btn-default orange-button\" title=\"Mallorca villas\" href=\"https:\/\/www.clubvillamar.com\/villas\/spain\/mallorca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Find here your Spanish Majorcan villa<\/a><\/h4>\n<h2>The sub-tropical Mediterranean climate on Mallorca with every now and then some snowfall<\/h2>\n<p>Yes, you&#8217;re reading it well; even<strong>\u00a0Mallorca<\/strong>\u00a0is not withheld from snow. If you like the winter, you&#8217;ll find colder temperatures and snow at the highlands of\u00a0<strong>Serra de Tramuntana<\/strong>. Just like on the rest of the island, temperatures are the lowest in February. The rain seasons are from March till May and from September till November, though November is considered the wettest month of all. But as they say: &#8220;after the storm comes the calm&#8221;, which is, in this case, the sun! With an average of 2.783 hours of sun a year, temperatures during the summer remain\u00a0<strong>between the 17 and 30 degrees.<\/strong>\u00a0Some days, the thermometer even reaches 35 \u00baC or more.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, this climate is bearable thanks to the air displacement above the island; a cool breeze during the summer ensures a bit of refreshment between 12 a.m. and 6 p.m.<\/p>\n<h2>Vamos a la playa en Mallorca!<\/h2>\n<p>Is your air mattress inflated? Have you reserved your sun lounger and parasol? Do you wear your coolest beach outfit? Don&#8217;t forget your giant beach towel and a well filled beach bag. Though,\u00a0<strong>Son Moll<\/strong>\u00a0is also very popular with tourists. This is not only because of its beauty and the soft breeze at noon that makes the temperatures pleasant, but it&#8217;s also due to its\u00a0<strong>water sports<\/strong>,<strong>facilities<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>great night-life<\/strong>\u00a0afterwards!<\/p>\n<p>The beaches, in general, have many facilities, swimming areas (indicated by buoys) and, during the summer season, lifeguards to guarantee your security. Most of them also have the so-called &#8220;blue flag&#8221;, which means either<strong>\u00a0good facilities<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong>clean beaches<\/strong>! And two very nice details are that most of them are\u00a0<strong>accessible for disabled people<\/strong>\u00a0and they&#8217;re also well connected by public transport.<\/p>\n<p>We already know that, on an island, you&#8217;re surrounded by water. That makes Mallorca very rich in large and small beaches and bays. Naturally, if you like high waves, you can also spend a great time there.<\/p>\n<p>The beach of Es Trenc is not only a good option for<strong>\u00a0snorkelling, diving or surf<\/strong>\u00a0but it&#8217;s also very famous because of the yearly sport event called la Volta Ciclista de Mallorca. The whole area, during this event, is visited by very skilled cyclists. That&#8217;s a nice added value, if you enjoy watching the sweaty super fast cyclists passing by. Big names have passed this road, like Laurent Jalabert, Alex Z\u00fclle and Alejandro Valverde.<\/p>\n<h2>How are going to spend your holiday on Mallorca?<\/h2>\n<h2><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-43592\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clubvillamar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/16-Mallorca-Palma.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"3536\" height=\"2480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.clubvillamar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/16-Mallorca-Palma.jpg 3536w, https:\/\/www.clubvillamar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/16-Mallorca-Palma-300x210.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.clubvillamar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/16-Mallorca-Palma-768x539.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.clubvillamar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/16-Mallorca-Palma-1024x718.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 3536px) 100vw, 3536px\" \/><\/h2>\n<p>A day of rest is also allowed, you&#8217;re, in fact, on a holiday where everything is allowed and\u00a0<strong>nothing is obliged!<\/strong>\u00a0It&#8217;s always nice to wear a t-shirt in which it&#8217;s written &#8220;I love Mallorca&#8221;, after relaxing in the swimming pool or after spending some quality time with your friends or family. Not to mention, after a photo shoot on a terrace, on the beach or in your villa. Don&#8217;t forget where you&#8217;ve been and to take something with you from the\u00a0<strong>Spanish life<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0<strong>Mallorca<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>Simple does it all. Shop till you drop and treat yourself on some<strong>\u00a0tapas<\/strong>\u00a0on a terrace or explore the\u00a0<strong>restaurants<\/strong>\u00a0and their food and intimacy. The place to be is the\u00a0<strong>&#8220;Pla\u00e7a Major&#8221;<\/strong>, in<strong>\u00a0Palma de Mallorca<\/strong>. During the evening, you can also have an after-dinner chat or a nightcap in one of the many bars. The atmosphere becomes even better thanks to the night market. Many times, these market stands will be surrounded by the ultimate touch for a good atmosphere: live performances from local musicians. It&#8217;s obviously really entertaining and nice to watch at, so having a walk around this area is certainly desirable. Have an evening stroll around the city walls from the 16<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0century and get as dessert an<strong>\u00a0amazing panoramic view<\/strong>\u00a0of the bay.<\/p>\n<p>Even if you&#8217;re not a philistine or you don&#8217;t want to do much, take your chance, now that you&#8217;re on\u00a0<strong>Mallorca<\/strong>, and discover the soul of this Spanish island.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>An average visitor of Majorca visits (at least):<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>The spectacular route with the\u00a0<a title=\"Electrical Train\" href=\"http:\/\/trendesoller.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">electrical train<\/a>\u00a0through the west coast, from Palma de Mallorca to Soller. This sublime connection passes through the\u00a0<strong>Serra de Tramuntana<\/strong>, which has as highest top the<strong>\u00a0Puig Major<\/strong>\u00a0(1.445 m), which is, by the way, also the highest mountain of the island.<\/li>\n<li>The<strong>\u00a0Mirador de Ses Basses<\/strong>\u00a0is a viewpoint where you can enjoy the sight of the Puig d&#8217;es Teix (1.062 m). This is one of the most visited touristic attractions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cap Formentor<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Some of the dripstone caves. Europe&#8217;s biggest ones are the\u00a0<strong>Coves del Drac<\/strong>, which are between Manacor, Felanitx and Porto Cristo. They have dripstones distributed in 4 different areas and they&#8217;re 39 m deep and 177 large. It&#8217;s a very interesting visit because of the boat trip that you can have on its lake. They&#8217;re called Coves del Drac (Dragon&#8217;s caves) because, according to the legend, there&#8217;s a dragon keeping the<strong>\u00a0treasures<\/strong>\u00a0safe from the intruders.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>village of Felanitx<\/strong>, which is famous because of the Renaissance architect Guillem Sagrega and the painter Miquel Barcel\u00f3.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>Coves dels Hams<\/strong>, which have stalactites of 500 m long.<\/li>\n<li>A very special farm called\u00a0<strong>&#8220;<a title=\"La Granja\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lagranja.net\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">La Granja<\/a>&#8220;,<\/strong>\u00a0nearby Esporles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>If you prefer comfort choose for the\u00a0<strong>Palma de Mallorca&#8217;s Hop-on Hop-off Bus<\/strong>. You&#8217;ll be able to go in and out in 16 stops and get some interesting information in Spanish, Majorcan, English, French, German, Italian, Swedish or Portuguese. Don&#8217;t forget to follow the directions that the audio guide indicates and you&#8217;ll see the most interesting places!<\/p>\n<p>Another option, of course, is to<strong>\u00a0hire a car or a scooter<\/strong>\u00a0and visit one of\u00a0<strong>Mallorca&#8217;s treasures:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>Palau de l&#8217;Almudaina<\/strong>\u00a0(Palma de Mallorca, Carrer de Palau Reial).<br \/>\nThe palace is nearby la Seu and it&#8217;s still the official royal residence. If you want to complete the Spanish royalty tour, you can visit the small museum\u00a0<strong>Capitania General<\/strong>\u00a0and the<strong>\u00a0royal chapel of St. Anne.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Banys Arabs<\/strong>\u00a0(next to la Seu)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-43594\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clubvillamar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/16-Mallorca-Castel.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2500\" height=\"1660\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.clubvillamar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/16-Mallorca-Castel.jpg 2500w, https:\/\/www.clubvillamar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/16-Mallorca-Castel-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.clubvillamar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/16-Mallorca-Castel-768x510.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.clubvillamar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/16-Mallorca-Castel-1024x680.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2500px) 100vw, 2500px\" \/><br \/>\nGo back to the past and feel the Arabic influences of those times. The Banys Arabs used to be part of the palace, during the 10<sup>th<\/sup>century. They&#8217;re the only heritage left from the Arabic city Medina Mayurga.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Basilica i Claustre de Sant Francesc<\/strong>\u00a0(Palma de Mallorca, Calle Morey).This church has the right to exist in Palma de Mallorca since 1278. Your visit will be rewarded with the 14<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0century monastery and the tomb of Ramon Llull. From the moment you arrive, you&#8217;ll be welcomed by a precious baroque fa\u00e7ade.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Castell Bellver<\/strong>\u00a0(Palma de Mallorca) offers you an amazing sight of the Terreno and the bay of\u00a0<strong>Palma de Mallorca.<\/strong>\u00a0This monumental building has been a prison in several occasions because of the distance to the city centre. Right now, it&#8217;s not a prison anymore so, don&#8217;t worry, you can pay a safe visit to it.<\/li>\n<li>We&#8217;ve already mentioned\u00a0<strong>&#8220;la Seu&#8221;<\/strong>\u00a0a few times. La Seu is the face from Palma (Palma de Mallorca, Pla\u00e7a de l&#8217;Almeina), just as the Sagrada Familia is the face from\u00a0<a title=\"Barcelona\" href=\"#LP_5\">Barcelona<\/a>. Coincidence or not, Antoni Gaud\u00ed has also contributed in the creation of this big and beautiful cathedral designed by Guillermo Sagrera.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Guillermo Sagrega<\/strong>\u00a0is also the architect of\u00a0<strong>the Llotja<\/strong>\u00a0(nearby the harbour of Palma, Paseo Sagrera). This spectacular market building gives you the idea that you&#8217;re in the medieval times. It has a Moorish influence and a wonderful sight with palm trees and other plants and grass around it. Nowadays, even the inside is an attraction for art lovers because, actually, it&#8217;s a museum. Hint: the museum is closed on Mondays.<\/li>\n<li>Visit the biggest aquarium of Europe:\u00a0<strong>Palma&#8217;s Aquarium<\/strong>\u00a0(nearby the airport of Palma), with its diversity of more then 8.000 species. There, you can find: fishes, coral, turtles, sharks and other fauna and plants (exposed by themes, in which the aquarium is divided).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Park Nacional i Mar\u00edtim de Cabrera<\/strong>: the island belongs to a protected nature reserve. You can spot uncommon plants, reptiles and birds. And it&#8217;s also an ideal place to snorkel or dive. Visiting the national park is for free but, as it&#8217;s protected by the government, you can only walk around with guides. You can reach it by boat from\u00a0<strong>Colonia de Sant Jordi<\/strong>\u00a0(the trip takes about one hour). If you want to enjoy a view of Cabrera, the best place is from the beach of<strong>\u00a0Es Trenc<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong>Sa R\u00e0pita<\/strong>(in Mallorca).If you&#8217;re into travelling with\u00a0<strong>Mallorca&#8217;s public transport,<\/strong>\u00a0how can you travel from A to B? You can use the\u00a0<strong>train<\/strong>, the underground, the\u00a0<strong>bus<\/strong>\u00a0or you can r<strong>ent a car or a scooter<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Most of the\u00a0<strong>Villamar&#8217;s holiday villas<\/strong> have their\u00a0own garage\u00a0or the facility to park your vehicle on your own ground. For example, there are trains from:<br \/>\nPalma &#8211; Inca &#8211; Sa Pobla<br \/>\nPalma &#8211; Inca &#8211; Manacor<br \/>\nPalma de Mallorca &#8211; Universitat de les Illes Balears<br \/>\nPalma &#8211; Soller &#8211; Bunyola<br \/>\nAnd the\u00a0<a title=\"emt\" href=\"http:\/\/www.emtpalma.cat\/en\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">buses<\/a>\u00a0are well represented in Mallorc<\/p>\n<div class=\"landingpage-content\">\n<h2>Majorca is like Spain in miniature with its typical nature, art and culture<\/h2>\n<h4><strong>1) Nature<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>You&#8217;ll find<strong>\u00a0beautiful nature<\/strong>\u00a0in many places in\u00a0<strong>Mallorca<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>best way<\/strong>\u00a0to view everything is to get to different heights like:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Mirador Es Colomer de Mal<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Mirador de Ses Animes<\/strong>, between Estellencs and Banyalbufar, it&#8217;s a watch tower.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mirador de Ses Basses<\/strong>, which is reachable by foot from a stone path. From there, you&#8217;ll be able to sight the tops of the mountains of Tramontana.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mirador de Ses Puntes<\/strong>, you can get there by foot from Valdemossa.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mirador ses Barques<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Talaia d&#8217;Albercutx<\/strong>, which is on a top of 1.000 m height.<\/li>\n<li>You&#8217;ll find an aristocratic property with a Moorish touch in the Jardines de Alfabia. It&#8217;s an ideal place to take pictures, relax and have a walk in the nature. If it&#8217;s too hot for you on the low altitudes, then a trip to the higher points, such as the\u00a0<strong>Puig Major<\/strong>, is certainly a good idea. Remember that every 100 m, temperatures descend half a degree. The highest top of the Serra de Tramuntana is the Puig Major (1.445 m above the sea). During the winter, the biggest climate difference respect the rest of the island is the snow, so you don&#8217;t have to be surprised if you see the\u00a0<strong>Serra de Tramuntana<\/strong>\u00a0completely white. The 90 km of highlands are divided into 13 municipalities, which are reachable by foot or with the\u00a0<a title=\"Electrical Train\" href=\"http:\/\/trendesoller.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">electrical train<\/a>. It&#8217;s also possible to get there by car, but it&#8217;s more complicated.<\/p>\n<p>One of the stops of the train is Port de Soller, which is at 27 km of\u00a0<strong>Palma de Mallorca<\/strong>\u00a0(1 hour by train, more or less).\u00a0<strong>The Santuario de Lluc<\/strong>\u00a0(the monastery of Lluc) is known as the spiritual heart of\u00a0<strong>Mallorca<\/strong>. This pilgrim centre is visited by many people because of its portrait of\u00a0<strong>&#8220;la Moreneta&#8221;<\/strong>\u00a0(the Black Madonna), just as the church on the mountain of Montserrat (nearby\u00a0<a title=\"Barcelona\" href=\"#LP_5\">Barcelona<\/a>), which also has a similar image. Even if you&#8217;re not that religious, it&#8217;s worth to travel these 35 km to the north-east of Soller. The area of the monastery, from the 13<sup>th<\/sup>century, is also perfect to have a walk or do a bike tour.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>2) Art and culture<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Many parts of the island are still\u00a0<strong>authentic<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>virginal<\/strong>; the purity and the charms of\u00a0<strong>Mallorca<\/strong>\u00a0are conserved there. It&#8217;s comparable to the square with the same name in Madrid. Both of them offer a\u00a0<strong>very good atmosphere<\/strong>\u00a0with their cheerful terraces,\u00a0<strong>Spanish restaurants<\/strong>\u00a0and their shops. Through the whole city, you&#8217;ll discover many churches, fountains, stately homes, inner courtyards and government buildings. Because of the many invasions that Mallorca has suffered over time, these buildings have many different types of influences. There are many bakeries where you can try the &#8220;<strong>ensaimada<\/strong>&#8220;, you&#8217;ll find them for example, in the Passeig des Born. This\u00a0<strong>typical Majorcan sweet<\/strong>\u00a0is made of a spiral shaped bread covered with icing sugar.<br \/>\nMaybe you&#8217;ve already fallen in love with Mallorca or maybe it will happen soon. That&#8217;s what happened to\u00a0<strong>Joan Mir\u00f3<\/strong>. Joan Mir\u00f3 is an important painter and sculptor from the 20<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0century art of Barcelona. The bright colours that he uses are all around\u00a0<a title=\"Bracelona\" href=\"#LP_11\">Barcelona<\/a>\u00a0like, for example, in his art piece &#8220;Dona i Ocell&#8221; (woman with a bird). He was born in Barcelona, but he died completely in love with the island in 1983 (in\u00a0<strong>Palma de Mallorca<\/strong>). In the Fundaci\u00f3 Pilar i Joan Mir\u00f3 of Palma, you can enjoy several of the works of this impressive artist.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pollensa \/ Pollen\u00e7a<\/strong><br \/>\nAre you rather a fit person? Have a walk in which you can literally go through the whole year with its 365 steps. These stairs lead to a\u00a0<strong>precious chapel<\/strong>\u00a0in Roman Gothic style called\u00a0<strong>Calvari.<\/strong>\u00a0Are the stairs a bit too much for you? Don&#8217;t panic, there&#8217;s also a road to the top. This beautiful pilgrimage church is the-<strong>eye-catcher<\/strong>\u00a0of Pollen\u00e7a. This city has its own culture and atmosphere, which you can observe if you walk over the promenade and, on your left, sight at the fantastic 19<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0century buildings. Finally,<strong>\u00a0Pollen\u00e7a<\/strong>\u00a0is also a great departure point to have a walk to Formentor or a trip to Port de Pollen\u00e7a.<br \/>\nOn the Spanish island\u00a0<strong>Mallorca<\/strong>, you won&#8217;t find a museum in every corner of the street. Neither is the island known for its culture. But the important thing is not the quantity but the quality! And Mallorca does it very well with its\u00a0<a title=\"Museu de Mallorca\" href=\"http:\/\/www.caib.es\/sacmicrofront\/contenido.do?idsite=4485&amp;campa=yes&amp;cont=55133&amp;lang=ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Museu de Mallorca<\/a>. When you arrive to this museum, you&#8217;ll be directly fascinated by the building itself. When the weather is dry, the chasm is an\u00a0<strong>amazingly beautiful image<\/strong>. But when it rains, the chasm gets flooded! So, it&#8217;s a matter of life or death to know the weather conditions and check the precipitation radar before you go. A good preparation and being attentive are the only things you need to enjoy this\u00a0<strong>nature treasure<\/strong>.
