This small rocky island is located in the south western seaboard off the Spanish island of Ibiza. This island is uninhabited; however, it is a part of the Cala d\u2019Hort nature reserve.<\/p>\n<h2><u>Pre-historic facts about the land<\/u><\/h2>\n<p>The island of Es Verda that we see today is as a result of a geological tumble. It is calculated by the geologists that almost 155 million years ago, continuous seismic movements in the earth&#8217;s crust caused great shifts and turbulence in the Betica Mountain Range. This caused the splitting of the range which resulted in the formation of the Balearic Islands. The continued movements of the ridge resulted in the formation of smaller islands like Es Vedr\u00e0, along with the satellite island of Illa Vedranell and the Illa Tagomago.<\/p>\n<h2><u>How to get there<\/u><\/h2>\n<p>From any part of the globe, one can catch a flight to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clubvillamar.com\/blog\/spain\/4-fun-facts-make-ibiza-one-big-party\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ibiza<\/a> international airport. The fact that more than 6 million travelers land on this airport every year shows the popularity of this destination. From Ibiza, reaching Es Vedra is very easy. One can rent a car, and it will be a 20 minute drive.<\/p>\n<h2><u>The exotic flora and fauna of the island<\/u><\/h2>\n<p>Since Es Vedr\u00e0 consists predominantly of Mesozoic limestone, the flora and fauna of this rocky island is a little different from the adjoining Balearic Islands. Even though the tourism is thriving in this area, due to various reasons, this little rocky island does not have any permanent residents. The only inhabitants of this Balearic Island were a sub-species of wild goat however, the local government decided to slaughter them in 2016 to protect the fauna of the island. One can witness a sub-species of an Ibizan wall-lizard which is quite exotic. This place is loved by the bird watchers across the globe as they can view the colony of the endangered bird of prey called Eleonora&#8217;s falcon.<\/p>\n<h2><u><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-46629\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clubvillamar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Rocky-Island.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"394\" height=\"261\" \/><\/u><\/h2>\n<h2><u>Sunset on this mystical town<\/u><\/h2>\n<p>Watching the sunset over Es Verda is once in a lifetime experience. Most of the travelers love to take a boat excursion, which is filled with serenity and spirituality. Most of the boats have glass-bottoms so that you can admire the crystal clear waters. You can admire the mysterious rock formation ES VEDRA which almost goes straight up from the miles of oceanic water.<\/p>\n<p>You may choose to take a short hiking trip and climb up and get the views which are absolutely stunning. Most boat excursions start in Port Magnus, the port of San Antonio, and after the trip they will bring you back to your starting point for you to reach back to your hotel.<\/p>\n<h2><u>Legends and Mythology associated with the island<\/u><\/h2>\n<p>This rocky island which is almost 400 meters in height has many myths and legends associated with it. If one loves literature, then they can relate this island to be the home to sirens and sea-nymphs. It is believed that these sires tried to lure Odysseus from his ship in <strong><u>Homer\u2019s Odyssey<\/u><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>It is also believed that this is the holy island of the <strong><u>Tanit the Phoenician lunar goddess<\/u><\/strong>. She is Ibiza&#8217;s patroness and is saving this small island from all evil spirits. This goddess is worshipped for fertility and it is believed that specific rituals were performed and sacrifices were made to Tanit during full moons on the shore of the island.<\/p>\n<p>The Carmelite friar <strong><u>Don Francisco Palau<\/u><\/strong> (also known as Francis Palau y Quer) arrived <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clubvillamar.com\/blog\/spain\/how-to-have-a-fun-holiday-on-ibiza\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">on Ibiza<\/a> following his exile from Barcelona in 1855. He was a 19th century Carmelite priest, who used to come to this island on boat to meditate. He experienced some divine interventions and wrote about them in a book titled &#8221;My Relations With the church.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2><u>Strong magnetic field<\/u><\/h2>\n<p>It is believed that this rocky island is the third most magnetic spot on earth. The North Pole has the maximum magnetic pull and the Bermuda Triangle stands in the second position. There is no evidence to support this geographically; however, it is narrated by many sailors that the navigational instruments are affected when they are sailing in the vicinity of Es Vedra. Even though scientifically it\u2019s not proven, one can feel the strong energy emanating from the rock which is also linked with spirituality and celestial magic.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\"
