Seriously. A trip to Spain<\/a> is a lot more affordable than you may think, especially if you heed some money-saving advice while you\u2019re planning your getaway.<\/p>\n

  1. Don\u2019t be afraid to use public transportation<\/strong>. Taking the bus is usually quicker, easier and cheaper than other methods of transportation. Most larger cities in Spain also have underground metros, which conveniently run throughout the day and night for rather low fares, too!<\/li>\n
  2. Remember to check for the menu of the day<\/strong>. If you\u2019re eating out during lunch time, look for the menu of the day. If you don\u2019t see one, don\u2019t be afraid to ask! This menu is a fantastic way to save some money, which can then be used on other attractions. And on the same money-saving note, try to skip out on eating dinner in a restaurant. Dinner time in Spain quickly gets expensive. Instead, take a stroll through the local supermarket and pick something up to cook in your villa!<\/li>\n
  3. Get a city pass<\/strong>. For some reason, a lot of Spain tourists don\u2019t get city passes, but these are a great way to save money if you plan to visit a lot of museums and attractions, or participate in activities! (Hint: You should plan on doing all the things!) City passes are going to save you as much as 20 percent on many of these attractions, and get you some free transportation. As the savings add up, you can put this money towards other Spain experiences!<\/li>\n
  4. Visit the museums when it\u2019s free<\/strong>. Believe it or not, man of the museums scattered throughout Spain offer free visitation days, or during certain times of the day. So, if visiting these attractions is on your list, be sure to research when you can go for free. It may be busier if you go this route, but you\u2019ll still be able to enjoy the experience, and more thanks to the savings!<\/li>\n
  5. Try not to rely on last-minute flight deals<\/strong>. Most of us know about getting a last minute deal when it comes to booking a flight. Especially for international travel, waiting to grab a last-minute seat can saving hundreds of dollars, which you can then use to spruce up your Spain experience. But, waiting until the last minute can also cost significantly more if you miss out on the perfect timing. Instead of waiting, plan your Spain trip at least three months in advance to get the best rates. If you aren\u2019t opposed to it, also consider a budget airline!<\/li>\n
  6. Really think about when you want to visit Spain<\/strong>. There are peak tourists seasons, like the summer, when Spain is going to become extra crowded, and the cost of your trip steadily climbs higher. If you\u2019re looking for a more affordable vacation, then go against the grain and plan your trip for an off-season in Spain! This means avoiding travel around holidays, like Christmas and Easter, or Spain events like the Running of the Bulls or the Las Fallas festival. Of course, if experiencing these things is on your list of things to do, then go for it! But, if you can avoid it, you can save on expenses by going sometime between May and October, when the weather is a bit chiller and tourists tend to stay home.<\/li>\n
  7. Book a villa<\/strong>! Villas are like your own little private home<\/a> away from home, except you\u2019re in Spain and everything is new and wonderful. You\u2019ll be able to save yourself some money by avoiding picking up extra tools and necessities, because you\u2019ll have it all right there ready for you!
