A Trip To Alicante

If you wonder what attracts tourists to Spain, then prepare yourself for a very long list. First of all, you have the breathtaking landscapes, the history, the architectural and cultural heritage, then come the spectacular castles of the Moors, the cuisine, the traditions and customs and the huge number of holiday resorts.

Visiting Spain is definitely on the ‘’must do’’ list of one’s life. If these have made you decide that you want to visit Spain, then here is a recommendation for you: while in Spain, go to Alicante.

Alicante as a holiday destination

Alicante is a vibrant city situated on the warm and sunny Costa Blanca on the picturesque Mediterranean shores. The city attracts tourists with its beauties: a charming marina, elegant terraces that have spectacular views, a promenade with perfectly lined trees, restaurants that serve delicious dishes containing fresh seafood, a department store with no less than 100 shops,  historical buildings that tell the story of Alicante’s past and an imposing castle dating back to the 9th century: Santa Barbara.

Alicante is not the typical seaside holiday resort but thanks to the excellent conditions offered by the nearby beaches, it started to be one. Its beaches are located a few kilometers away from the centre of the city but they are easy to reach by car or by bus. This is how tourism started to become one of the main activities of the city, being now the main economic power.

Sightseeing in Alicante

When you step on the streets of Alicante, you immediately understand why sightseeing is such an important activity in the city: everywhere you look there is a building that attracts your attention and interest thanks to its aspect. The sightseeing list must contain the Old Town, the beautiful Santa Barbara Castle, the spectacular Santa Maria Church which displays an exquisite Gothic architecture to which Michelangelo contributed and the esplanade. Alicante’s location offers tourists the possibility of day trips to Madrid, Benidorm or Valencia, all easy to reach with the help of the fast train system.

A little bit of fun

Going to the restaurant for dinner is definitely a ‘’must’’. You have to try the mussels prepared in red wine, the Paella and the Calamari, delicious dishes that will delight your senses. The nightlife is a big attraction as the night clubs and the bars are open until late, offering a wide range of activities for the entertainment of tourists. Enjoy!
