Almeria

Excursions in the region

If you are a visitor to the Almeria region, then you should visit the water park Mario as well. It is only a five minutes drive from Roquetas de Mar. Water parks always attract tourists because they offer an unforgettable experience, but it should be noted that the parks in Spain are the best. In addition to finely equipped cafeteria, pizzeria and kiosks, there is also a great Jacuzzi where you can relax. Then, you can enjoy the waterfalls, artificial waves and various water slides, of which the most interesting one is called “kamikaze”.

Roquetas de Mar is a typical fishing village that exudes history. It is a great place for a day trip. For golf enthusiasts, there are even 18 golf courses.

However, there are two city fortresses in Almeria region which are also worthy of your attention.

Mojacer

The city of Mojacer is really close to Almeria. It is well known for its beautiful beaches. There are numerous villas, which are meant for renting out to tourists. In the street Alcalde Jacinto, you can find the church of Santa Maria, from the year 1560. In front of the church, there is a fountain with a marble statue of Mojaquera, which is actually a woman in authentic dress with face covered in Arabic way.

Tourist attractions

Almeria is well connected due to its public transportation, but walking is much better because there is a lot to be seen. The city has an excellent selection of art galleries, museums and shops. There are excellent museums such as Museo de fotografias, Centro de Arte – Museo de Almeri and Museo Arqueológica. All of them do not charge tickets.

The Center of Almeria extends from Fort Alcazaba in the west to Rambla de Bela on the east. At the heart of the city is La Rambla, a long avenue with its picturesque shipyards, street cafes and playgrounds for children. Squares are dominated with beautiful fountains.

There are parks with trails which are shaded by trees. Even though this region does not get much rain, it has a lot of greenery.

Shops are full of Spanish and foreign goods. You can find great discounts there.

Restaurants

Fraga Iribarne and Konsepsion Arenal are streets which offer good restaurants and bars with seafood and other fish dishes.

However, the best places with affordable prices are in the parts around the Puerta de Purćena and the Paseo de Almeria. “Alfarevos” and “Sol de Almeria” are also great restaurants with tasteful seafood. “Bodega Montenegro”, near the cathedral, offers authentic local dishes such as Chorizo (sausage) and Albondigas (meatballs in tomato sauce).
