Best Beaches of Spain – Ses Illetes, Formentera

Spain has a long sea coast of over 220 kms off the Mediterranean Sea. This long sea coast has thousands of beaches. Balearic Island is a group of islands located in the west of Spain. This archipelago can be called a necklace of diamonds. Among these precious islands, Ses Illetes in Formentera is in the forefront.

Formentera is one of the small islands of the Balearic group and is in the south of Spain. Located at the farther corner, it does not receive many visitors. Those who visit Forementera can only reach the island by ferry from Ibiza. The Ses Illetes is one of the most popular beaches of Forementera Island. This unimaginably beautiful beach certainly deserves to be crowned the ‘queen’ of the Balearic Islands.

The beach remains unspoiled because there is little or no human intervention in the ecological system here. The Government of Spain has taken care to preserve the natural beauty and has taken pains to keep the beach immaculately clean.

The crystal clear sea water invites the tourist to jump in. Varieties of water sports are available for tourists. The beautiful white sand on the endless blue horizon of the Mediterranean Sea is something to be seen rather than explained. The other important beaches of Formentera Island include Cala Savina, Es Calo, Platja de Llevant, Es Pujols and Cala Saona.

What is unique about Forementera Island?
One unique thing about this island is clear white sand of the beach. At the other corner of the beach the tourist will find rocky cliffs. There are tall mountains and, at the other end, the ravines, which are quite deep. At the foot of the mountain are the tall palm trees. The primitive nature on this island surrounded by the white sand of the beach can rarely be found on any other islands. Those who want to go to the mainland can hire cars, motor bikes or bicycles.

Sports facility available:
Apart from the water and beach sports, visitors can enjoy jet skiing, wind surfing, tennis etc. Of course there are other sporting activities like cycling, trekking, walking etc.

Board and lodging:

There are many luxury hotels and villas known for their hospitality and mouth watering cuisines. Self catering villas are also available. Although Forementera Island does not receive too many tourists, they are advised to book their accommodation in advance. Be certain that if you miss Ses Illetes, you will have missed something very beautiful.
