Castilla La Mancha And The Lagoons Of Ruidera

Tourism is a well known source of income in Spain. In this regard, the Spanish have always tried to improve areas with beautiful views, to develop new restaurants and other tourist attractions.

Sagrada Familia, Santa Eularia, the Synagogues, and the Lagoons of Ruidera are only some of the beautiful places that you can admire while visiting Spain.

Once you have left behind the desert plains in the „La Mancha” region, two surprises will appear to you: Cuenca and Toledo. The bucolic hills and valleys of Extremadura lead you to historical towns like Caceres, Merida and Trujillo. This is a fertile territory between Madrid and Andaluzia.

Apparently devoid of inhabitants, this region seems to be grayer than other parts of Spain, like Extremadura, Barcelona or Madrid. The biggest points of interest in Castilla de la Mancha are, without doubt, Toledo and Cuenca. Despite the fact that this area is totally devoted to tourism, it nevertheless keeps an affable and individualistic attmosphere.
Lagoons Of Ruidera
Ruidera is a small city in Ciudad Real, a region in Castilla de La Mancha. It has a small number of inhabitants and very poor resources, its  whole economy being based on tourism. The Lagoons of Ruidera are placed in the middle of the collection basin of the Alto Guadiana river.

This fluvial area opens a large extention of about 4000 square kilometers, out of which 3772 square kilometers belong to the National Park <The Lagoons of Ruidera> . You can visit Ruidera via the national road N/340. To continue visiting Ruidera and its lagoons, it is necessary first to go and see „The reception centre of the National Park” where you will find all you need in terms of information about this place.  Then go to the sorrounding water lagoons. „The Ray Lagoon” is the biggest in this complex.

It is also the most attractive one, being full of restaurants, botanical gardens and amusement parks. Connected to the „Ryo Lagoon” through a small river, „Colgada Lagoon” is the second in terms of width.

The edge of this lagoon is very irregular and is almost 4 kilometers in length. ”Batana”, „Salvadora”, „Lengua”, „San Pedra”, „Tomatilla” or „Santo Morcillo” are other lagoons , each having its own unique characteristics, and you will be impressed by the beauty of these places where the water seems to be the most pure in the world.

If you don’t have an entire week to discover this region of Spain, you can spend at least one day in this wonderful „Natural Park of Ruidera”.
