Charming EL PEDROSO and Its Surroundings

Although the town El Pedroso may be small, there are a quite interesting sights for a tourist, besides moving on to surrounding towns with more views and fun.

El Pedroso offers a quaint Mudejar church which is quite noteworthy since the ancient of days. This charming serene town is located in Sevilla where one can comfortably trek to and fro, without going through the complete mountain range.

Around El Pedroso

Nearby is Constantina, a town which lies 18 kilometers away with about 15,000 inhabitants. Founded by the Romans during the 4th century, this lovely mountain town was named after Emperor Constantine’s son. Overlooking this little town looms the magnificent Castillo Armada with its shady gardens planted in descending terraces up to the ancient part of town. It can be seen that the Moorish traditions have taken root in this place. There is a 16th century church that has a Mudejar tower of Moorish influence.

Constantina

This nearby town to El Pedroso, houses a tourist office that is located in the town hall, or as the locals call it, ayuntamiento. The tourist center is equipped with town maps that allow easy identification of places of interests in the town and its surroundings.

It also supplies information on places to stay, which is a youth hostel, being the cheapest form of accommodation here. This modern Cuesta Blanca is located on a hill behind a gas station at the south side of town, offering single as well as twin rooms. Besides this hostel, other places to stay are higher than the budget amount, especially the impressive Casa Mari Pepa hotel which offers unique en-suite rooms that are distinctively decorated within an old mansion that is refurbished.

Accommodations

Although there are not many choices of places to stay in El Pedroso, there is the Casa Montehuéznar which is a brand new hotel located facing the station. This new hotel was an ancient mansion that has been restored and fully equipped with a good restaurant in its compound.

Alternatively, simple rooms can be found through the train station bar which offers information on places to stay at El Pedroso.

Gastronomy and Activity

Excellent tapas are available at Serranía bar which is located opposite the train station. It serves delicious local cuisines and delicacies out of hare, venison, partridge and pheasant. There are good places for the stomach on the main street with a bit of nightlife in the form of discos. Bonny Dog is the preferred nightlife hangout which can attract the younger generation from its surroundings during the weekends.
