A former fishing cove in Tossa de Mar

A long time before sea bathing and relaxing on beaches became a popular summer occupation, this beach was used by the fishermen of Tossa de Mar. They would moor their boats here, sheltered from the wind and, from there, they would set out to sea. Today there are still some fishermen who use Platja Es Codolar as a place to moor.

Swimming here is to swim in an incredible natural historic setting! Only a few minutes on foot from Tossa de Mar’s Vila Vella , just next to the Municipal Museum, this place offers you a delightful break during your holidays on the Costa Brava.

A beach which is popular with both tourists and locals!

Off season, Es Codolar beach is mainly populated by anglers. You can also see walkers who follow the “cami de Ronda” that connects Lloret de Mar with Tossa.

In summer, it is very popular with tourists who come to admire its magnificent picturesque setting. But the beach is tiny and you may have difficulty finding a space to spread out your towel… Best to come early!

In season, the beach provides a small number of facilities for the comfort and entertainment of tourists. A “chiringuito” (beach bar) provides refreshments. If you enjoy sea excursions you can hirea kayak and paddle off to discover the coast near Es Codolar.

Finally, the little beach at Tossa de Mar is ideal for snorkelling! The rock pools around it are full of fish and seaweed which you will be able to observe.
