Explore Andaulusia

One of the most important tourist regions of Spain, Andalusia, extending from the border with Portugal and the Atlantic Ocean to the west, the peaks of the Sierra Nevada to the north-east and the Mediterranean Sea to the south, is a beautiful place for tourists to visit. The eight provinces of Andalusia are extended along the entire southern part of Spain.

These are Huelva, Cadiz, Malaga, Seville, Cordoba, Granada, Jaen and Almeria. Gibraltar should be added to this list because of the frequent visits by tourists coming to this region. Here you will find one of the longest rivers in Spain, the Guadalquivir River, bisecting the region. Famous for its beautiful sea, Andalusia is the perfect holiday destination for those who love the ocean and beaches, but also for nature lovers with numerous routes that reach the most beautiful tourist destinations in the country.

The southernmost point of Andalusia is only 14 km from Africa, whose proximity gives a significant mark on this territory. This was the last part of Spain to be abandoned by the Moors when the Catholic monarchs Ferdinand and Isabella ended their advance southward, joining Andalusia to Spain in 1492.  In contrast to its glorious past, Andalusia is currently one of the regions lagging behind in terms of economy; badly hit by the housing crisis together with high unemployment.

Also contributing to the economic hardship is the hot weather, which causes considerable problems in this region. Temperatures that reach 40 ° C leading to drought, which combined with the typical personality of the Andalusian people, certainly does not help a strong economic environment. All the stereotypes about Spain, in fact, come from here, from the siesta, flamenco, bullfighting and the total attitude.

The other side of the coin, however, is the wealth of tradition: the bullfighters, beaches, white villages, caves, boisterous fiestas, the sangria, tapas and the inevitable paella. The region also boasts beautiful cities, including Seville, Cordoba, Granada and Malaga, each rich in history and monuments.
Even smaller cities such as the Frontera or Jerez de Ronda, are beautiful examples of the time when the riches from the New World fueled the growth of these lands.

In the province of Huelva, on the border with Portugal, is another tourist destination, which recalls the atmosphere of this area. There are several statues of Christopher Columbus, who started from there to undertake his historic trip in 1492. The places most frequented by tourists are the big cities and the popular Costa del Sol and Gibraltar, historical and geographical areas, but we find interesting sites scattered throughout the region.
