Playa del Inglés

Maspalomas

Maspalomas is a seaside resort that is still emerging. Therefore it is an ideal holiday destination for those who want to escape from the mass tourism. Maspalomas has a beautiful long sandy beach that stretches all the way to the resort of Playa del Ingles. Along the beach you will find the sand dunes of Maspalomas, it is a beautiful piece of unspoiled nature where you can make beautiful walks, especially around sunset. Puerta Mogan

A very cozy and colorful village, along the tasteful cottages are several narrow channels. The streets are connected by small bridges. Puerto de Mogan is also called the small Venice of Gran Canaria.It is definitely worth a visit. This town also has a cozy harbor, along you can find several little restaurants and terraces. Stroll along the harbor and watch the fishermen bring in their catch at the old port. When you visit this village you must take the inland road to Mogán. San Augustín

Next to the popular resort Playa del Ingles is the town of San Augustín. As soon as you enter the town you will immediately feel this town has its own identity. San Augustin is a popular resort but not super busy. It is an ideal holiday spot if you like to walk, along the beaches and cliffs you can enjoy a nice and relaxing stroll. Firgas

Puerto de las Nieves

Puerto de las Nieves is a small picturesque fishing village on the north coast of Gran Canaria. In the last couple of years this town has become more and more popular among tourists. From here you can make a day-trip by boat to the island Tenerife. Puerto de las Nieves has a boulevard with some very nice restaurants where you can enjoy the fresh prepared fish. But also nice to just walk along and watch the sunset. The view is breathtaking! On the main square you can visit the small chapel, the Ermita de las Nieves. A 16th century work of art depicting the Virgin and Child, the art was painted by the famous Flemish artist Joos van Cleve.

Teror

In the inland of Gran Canaria you can visit the pilgrimage town Teror. Many people say that this is the most beautiful village in Gran Canaria. Visit the impressive Basilica of Nuestre Senora del Pino. It is definitely worth a visit. Sights in Gran Canaria

Roque Nublo

One of the nicest and most important attractions in Gran Canaria. You can find this rock of about 60meters high on a mountain of 1700 meters. You can walk over a path that leads you to the top of the mountain where you will have the most amazing views. If the weather is good you can sometimes even see the Pico del Teide on Tenerife. It’s a steep climb but it’s really worth it!

Pico de las Nieves

When you are going to visit de Roque Nublo you can combine your trip with a visit to the Pico de las Nieves. With its 1949 meters the Pico de las Nieves is the highest mountain in Gran Canaria and is located in the heart of the island. Even the road towards the mountain is stunning. Beautiful narrow roads through small lovely villages, deep gorges and subtropical landscapes with exotic fruit trees.

Cruz de Tejeda

Visit the second smallest village of the island of Gran Canaria, called Tejeda. In this village it is all about the stone cross. On a mountain at 1580 meters above sea level, you can find the cross Cruz de Tejeda and therefor is the geographical center of Gran Canaria. In the area of the cross, you can enjoy the surrounding, relax inn a cozy cafe, restaurant or bar. You will also find several shops and souvenir shops. The magnificent “Finger of God” Dedo de Dios

Dedo de Dios

Dedo de Dios, also known as “the finger of God”is the most famous monument of Gran Canaria. A magnificent monolith of basalt of about thirty feet high that has been shaped of erosion in the past thousands of years. Unfortunately, due to the Delta storm in 2005 that wizzed over the island Gran Canaria the “tip of the finger” broke. From the port of Agaete you have a clear view of the Dedo de Dios.

Barranco de Guayadeque, Ingenio

One of the most beautiful valleys of the island Gran Canaria is the beautiful green Barranco de Guayadeque. More than 80 different plant species grow here, including cacti, agave, poppies, Canary pine and almond trees. Besides the beautiful green oasis you will find a number of cave houses that were once used as one of the most important prehistoric cemeteries. Later these caves were used to live in. Today the area is a protected nature reserve. For those that are interested, in the area is an information center where you can learn everything about the life of the cave people.Do you like walking? Than you’ve come to the right place, it is a paradise for hikers. Through the area you will find a paved road which makes it accessible to everyone. You will walk along beautiful pieces of nature and cave villages with tiny little chapel, a bar and a restaurant. When you walk to the end of the road you will arrive at the famous restaurant Tagoror, a very cozy restaurant in a cave where you can eat delicious typical Canarian dishes.

Museum en park Cueva Pintada.

An impressive piece of history of Gran Canaria you will find in the museum and the park Cueva Pintada. Just outside the town Gáldar you can visit this magnificent cave, which is actually the only one on the island Gran Canaria where you can still see the murals of the original islanders that were made about 2000 years ago. Around the cave they have build a large archaeological park including a cinema, a museum and a library. Because the cave is an important historical monument only a limited number of visitors per day are aloud to visit the cave. So if you don´t want to miss this sight, make sure you buy your ticket on time!
When you’re in the area, a visit to the traditional village Galdar is highly recommended. In the center you will find the beautiful Plaza de Santiago with an interesting church, a Sunday market and further more a few cozy and tasty tapas bars.

From the airport you can take the bus to the south, you have to catch bus number 66 and will cost you around three euros. From here you can catch another bus to your destination.
