Why Spain?

If you wonder why you should choose Spain as your holiday destination, the answer couldn’t be simpler: it is amazing. Spain is one of the most beautiful countries in the world, having so many different types of places and things to see and do that the most difficult part for a tourist is to choose one of them.

The landscapes are so diverse, having high mountains and long sea coasts with clear waters, the cities are architectural jewels, and the people are warm and welcoming.

These are the ingredients for the perfect holiday. If you decide to visit Spain but are having trouble in choosing one destination, you can choose the so called “Green Spain.” Green Spain is an area that covers four provinces: Asturias, Galicia, Cantabria, and the Basque Country. It travels along the northern coast of the peninsula.

The Four Provinces

Galicia is situated in the north western part of the country, and it is characterized by a coastline with high cliffs and a lot of estuaries. If you are in Galicia, you’ll be busy visiting more than fifty museums. Don’t miss the Galician Marine Museum and the Cathedral Museum.

Heading further, Asturias is the province that bathes in the Cantabrian Sea. Asturias is a beautiful place, having mountainous terrain that offers tourists the possibility to practice sports such as hiking and paragliding.

The special thing about Asturias is that you will find yourself in a place where the mountains are on the one side, while the sea is on the other. Somewhere in-between people live their day-to-day lives.

Cantabria is also a region where the mountain and the sea harmoniously mingle, and is famous for its caves. Seventeen caves host the remains of prehistoric cave art. Last but not least is the Basque Country.

The Basque Country is famous for the numerous valleys that end at the coast, or go parallel to it. The biggest attraction in the Basque Country is the Guggenheim Museum. Millions of people come from all around the world just to visit it.
