Places of Interest in Spain – Puerto Pollensa

Rocky Mountain on one side, beautiful beach on the other side and in the midst are the villas and resorts. This picturesque environment is not an illusion but a reality. Located at a distance of about 8 kms from Alcudia, this small town of Pollensa is a beautiful countryside town with narrow roads.

The Pollensa town:

Some tourists call this town a heaven because it has added glamour to the already beautiful environment. The town is proud of ancient buildings. The main street of this town is called the Church Square. This street is famous for terrace cafes which serve most delicious snacks and coffee. Those who stay in the villas near the beach normally make it a point to visit this small town.

A word of caution for the drivers; clearly note the place where you have parked the car. This is because the streets and the houses in this town look almost similar and it may be difficult for you to locate the place where you parked the car.

The other important place of Pollensa is the Calvari square. You just get down the hill area by about 350 steps; you will reach one of oldest churches presumed to have been built by the Roman Empire. The Roman Bridge is in a dilapidated condition and efforts are on to restore the bridge to its original shape. Actually the Roman Bridge is on the outskirts of the town.

Other places of interest in Puerto Pollensa:

Not far away from Puerto Pollensa is the Cap de Formentor which is one of the most beautiful places. The stunningly beautiful nature is an ideal place to meditate and relax the body and mind. Just few minutes’ drive will take you to Cala an Vicente which is famous for its coves.

As a matter of fact, Cala an Vicente has been recognized as the most beautifully maintained town. Cavall Bernat beach is another place which has been recognized as one of best maintained beaches in Spain.

The place is most suitable for migratory birds. That is the reason why bird watchers make Puerto Pollensa their base during the period when these birds start arriving. There is a long pathway for cyclists at the bottom of the mountain. Another pathway for cyclists and a walkway run along the beach. Golf lovers can visit the famous Alcananda Golf Club. Some of the international golf games are held here.
