Places of Tourist Interest in Spain – Malaga

Malaga is one of most prominent tourist spots of Spain. The city is located about 102 kms from the Strait of Gibraltar. Cathedral:

The Alcazaba:

The Alcazaba believed to have been built in the 14th century is another place of interest for the tourists. According to historians, this structure was built to protect the city from pirates and other enemies. The rectangular towers are built on a quadrangular plan with a beautifully laid out but narrow pathway. In the center of the Alcazaba,

the tourist will find a beautiful garden of Eucalyptus and pine trees. The governor’s palace is located here. The Roman Theater:

This is one of the oldest known Theaters of Europe. Believed to have been built in the 1st Century by the emperor Caesar Augustus, it has seating for about 30000 persons. Now, the theatre is being used for cultural shows which are held every day.

Gibralfaro Castle:

Believed to have been built in the 11th century, the castle is built on the mountain Gibralfaro. Actually this castle is connected to the Alcazaba. During the 14th century many improvements were brought about for the castle. The castle is believed to have been built as a watchtower to oversee the security of the city. This beautiful castle is preserved even to this day as a reminiscence of the history of Spain.
