Poniente Beach

Location:

Benidorm is a Spanish coastal town on the Mediterranean Sea. It is famous for its night life and beautiful beaches, marked with blue flag. That means that they are high quality beaches. Levante and Poniente are the most popular beaches in this town. Along the beaches there is a road with heavy traffic.

Overview:

Poniente Beach is located on the western side of the town. This three kilometer long beach covered with white sand is very crowded. It is very popular among tourists from northern Europe, mostly from the UK and Germany. Anyway, the beach has all the necessary facilities for a perfect vacation. It has changing rooms, toilets, sun beds and sunshades.

It is also great for swimming because there are no rocks in the water. Maintenance of the beach is perfect – it is cleaned every morning. Along the beach there is a promenade. People use it for jogging and walking, skating and roller driving. This area has many bars and restaurants as well as many shops. Beyond the promenade there is a wide range of hotels and villas, different kinds of shops and supermarkets.

Activities and leisure time:

Poniente Beach is a favorable place for people who like birds. Park del Elche’s located nearby, is inhabited by white doves. These birds live on the palms that grow in this park. Doves are not wild. They are accustomed to the human presence and allow people to feed them. Majority of the birds eat from people’s hands. The beach is perfect for families with small children.

Kilometers of the beach are without any single rock and water is shallow. Nearby, there is an animal park with everyday spectacles including animals like dolphins, parrots and whales. The park also has cages with animals from all over the world. It has lions and tigers as well as penguins from the colder parts of the Earth. Incredible diversity for the children is guaranteed.

Poniente has all the facilities for people with reduced mobility as well. It has services to help these people to go in or out of the water or to take care of them while they are in the water, medical help and lifeguards. The beach has chairs, specially reserved for people who cannot swim, lift in order to get people out of their wheelchairs and special changing rooms.

Poniente beach is also alive in the evenings as during the day. It has a vibrant nightlife. Along the beach, there are several night clubs where the tourists can dance till the dawn. For those who like to spend a serene evening, local restaurants with quite music are the perfect places.
