Visiting Canar
Tourists will find Canar somewhere to the south of the picturesque Sierra Nevada Mountain range, in the rustic region of Alpujaras. If you drive your way through the beautiful country from Ogiva, the first settlements that will come into your way are the pretty Canar and Soportujar; the latter is a fantastic maze of sinuous and cobbled white walled alleys and as it happens with most of the Alpujarran villages, the terraced mountainside is the place where they congregate.
These mountainsides are always planted with poplars and the inhabitants of the villages irrigate them with laced irrigation channels, so you will find yourself in a very fertile part of the country, a region that will win your heart. All the villages in the area have traditional bars where tourists can serve a traditional meal and enjoy a good drinking.
Below Canar and Soportujar tourists will be welcomed by the Caratunas, a tiny and very pretty hamlet, a very comfortable place for accommodation.
