The Beautiful City of Spain – Ceuta

It is small and yet it is a beautiful city, that is Ceuta, just facing the mighty Mediterranean Sea and very close to Gibraltar. The city is so small that one need not hire a taxi to go round the city. One can go round the city conveniently by foot.

It has a busy port and is strategically located; therefore the Spanish army and navy have set their barracks here. At the same time it is one of the most important tourist spots and therefore tourists flock to this tiny city in great numbers. The next question which comes to our mind is what is so unique about this small city. To know this it is appropriate that we go round the city.

We will commence our tour relaxing on the beach. Ceuta has one of the most beautiful beaches in Spain. The beautiful nature around and the vast golden sand makes the beach look more beautiful. This is a very busy beach and is under the strict surveillance of the military. Yet, tourists can enjoy water sports and other beach games. Separate place has been provided for the tourists to relax on the beach.

There is a Castle called ‘Mone Hacho’ which is another place of interest. It is located on the top of the hill just near the sea. According to historians, this castle was used as an observatory by the Greek army. The Spanish army is now using this castle as an observatory. As it overlooks the sea and borders a neighboring country, the castle is of prime importance for the army.

De Ceuta, Parroquia is one of the most important churches in Ceuta. Many tourists visit this church throughout the year. The other popular church is the Parroquia De Santa Maria. This church is built in traditional Gothic design.

The interiors of this church bear beautiful works of sculpture and have a collection of some of the paintings of popular artists from Spain. Parroquia Santa Maria is the other popular church of Ceuta. This church is also built in Gothic design and bears a beautiful structure.

Many villas and hotels are available for a comfortable stay. There are some small villages around Ceuta which offer delicious food at moderate charges.

How to reach?

Ceuta is connected by railway and by a beautiful road. Helicopter service is also available to reach the city. Most of the tourists prefer the road to reach Ceuta.
