The wonders of Alhambra
The Alhambra is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful Moorish monuments in Spain, actually a group of monuments that will leave you breathless. Situated in the peaceful town of Granada, the beautiful Alhambra guards the surroundings from the top of its hill.
Getting there is not easy because you have to walk uphill, but the reward waiting for you deserves the effort on your part; the plateau has a valuable jewel on its top.
Parts of the Alhambra
One of the best parts of the Alhambra is the Nasrid Palace. Open your eyes wide and enjoy it in the half hour that you have been designated on your ticket! The beauty of the Palace stays in symmetry and ornaments, which are among the most beautiful you have ever seen.
Charles V’s Palace is also spectacular, even grandiose. The design follows a square and even though this is supposed to be the Christian part of the complex, you will see that the architecture is far from conservative.
As important as the palaces are the towers and the ramparts; their number is overwhelming and climbing them will offer you some of the most spectacular views of the surroundings; you can even see the snowy peaks of the nearby Sierra Nevada if you climb one of the tallest towers.
Last but not the least, spare a few hours of your time for the Generalife which represents the part of the complex that hosts the lush gardens and the summer palaces.
The orange trees, the numerous flower beds, the water of the fountains, the pools; they all create a special atmosphere that will make you want to come back to the Alhambra at least once. It is not easy to understand the beauty of this amazing complex unless you visit it, so why not see it with your own eyes?
