Every trip to Spain is special – and it is not just me who says this but the millions of tourists who choose this amazing European country as their holiday destination every year. This means that Spain is a special country that deserves your attention and your interest, because there are thousands of interesting places that you can visit and millions of new things to learn.

One holiday destination in Spain can be the province of Galicia, which is renowned as the land that hosts the 1000 rivers. Galicia is a land of contrasts, where the rivers start flowing from its highest points to the coast, a land that not only has dangerous cliffs, but also smooth, large beaches. The numerous rivers form the so called “Rias”. Those who visit the ‘’Rias Altas ‘’ will be welcomed by spectacular beaches, while the “Rias Baixas” is a place where nature is protected, a place packed with natural reserves, green valleys and very romantic and traditional villages.

The Celts and the Romans were very interested in the region, leaving their legacy on almost everything in Galicia. Tourists can still visit ancient walls built by Lugo, the Roman bridges or the famous and the legendary Tower of Hercules. The Middle Ages brought a discovery which would become the one that changed the entire perspective of Galicia: Apostle Santiago’s tomb. This is how Santiago de Compostela appeared and how the famous Way of Santiago was created. Santiago’s Way is traversed by thousands of pilgrims every year, with the Santiago Cathedral as their destination.
