Toledo – The Most Important Tourist Spot of Spain

If one wants to spend his holiday in one of the most beautiful environments on the earth, then his first choice would be Toledo. Located at just about 70 kms from Madrid, Toledo is considered to be the most beautiful place of Europe.
History of Toledo can be traced to the Bronze Age. Thereafter many civilizations like the Greeks, Romans and Moors left an indelible impression on the people of Toledo. Castillo de San Servando:

This castle is believed to have been built in the year 1088. It is located in the midst of beautiful environment on the banks of the great river Tagus. The Christians who overtook the castle used this castle to fortify the city from a possible attack by the Moors.

Unfortunately after the threat from Moors decreased, the castle received little or no attention. It was very recently that the Government of Spain took initiative to preserve this castillo de San Servando. Now most part of the castle is restored. The tourists will be certainly mesmerized by the imposing building of the castle.

Monastery:

Monasterio de San Juan de los Reyes is one of the most popular monasteries of Toledo. People from all parts of Spain and Europe visit this monastery because it is one of the most revered places by people from these countries. The Monastery is lavishly decorated.

The most imposing structure of this monastery is a challenge to the modern experts of architecture. From the time it was built, the Monastery has undergone several changes. Many works of art and artifacts from some of the leading artists of Spain are displayed here.

Church Santiago del Arrabal:

This church is believed to have been built in the year 1245. Even this church has undergone several changes since it was built. Many tourists from far and wide visit this church. The church is also popular for its most stunningly beautiful works of architecture.

Church Santa María la Blanca:

It would be very difficult to describe how beautiful the Church is. Only a visit will convince the visitor about the beauty of this church. Rich interiors and exteriors and stunningly beautiful works of painting are some of the interesting aspects of this renowned church. Even this church receives the highest number of visitors throughout the year. It has a long history.
