Visit Salobrene

Have you ever visited Spain? This country has an impressive touristic potential, there is practically no place that doesn’t have something interesting to see. Tourists from all over the world visit Spain for its beauty, for its culture and traditions and for the spectacular beaches. Granada is one of the favorite destinations for tourists and Salobrena is one of its resorts.

Its location on the Costa Tropical gives it a warm climate all year long, perfect for holidays. Salobrena is a small town where the houses seem to cling right to the hillside, a town with a nice old quarter and a Moorish castle lying on the foothills. It is a very picturesque place, with its views of the coast and the Sierra Nevada mountain chain.

Attractions in Salobrena

The Castle seems to fascinate the tourists, because they all come to visit it. It dates back to the 12th century, but it was built on the remains if a fort dating back to the 10th century. The legend is probably the attraction for tourists: it is thought that the three daughters of the Moorish King Emir Mohammed were held there as prisoners.

Today it just looks like the summer residence for the Moorish kings. In Salobrena, just like in many other places in Spain, the Moorish tradition mingles with the Christian one; proof of this is the Nuestra Senora del Rosario Church, situated under the Moorish Castle and dating back to the 16th century. The church was built on the remains of the Moorish Mosque. When you finish sightseeing, it is time to go to the beach.

El Penon, Playa de la Charca and La Guardia are the most popular beaches, attracting tourists with their grey sands and the possibility for snorkeling. El Penon is also a restaurant situated very close to the beach where tourists go for the cheap, but delicious seafood dishes. Another important and popular restaurant is Restaurante Tropical; the house specialty here is steak, served with different types of sauces.

Party time

Many tourists choose Salobrena for the fiestas held here. For example, in July you can take part in the Virgen Del Carmen procession; after the statue of the Virgin is carried through the streets of the town, people put it into a boat and take it on a sailing procession. You should visit this place, because you will definitely like it!
