Places of interest in Spain – Estepona

It is certainly the most ideal place for a quiet and comfortable stay and for enjoying a holiday in the midst of nature. Estepona is located at the farther end of the Costa del Sol and is a part of the Andalusia province. It is very well connected by road. This small town has many places of interest for the tourist.

Normally those who visit Estepona prefer to visit El Cristo beach. Particularly families with children will never miss El Cristo beach because it is most ideal for children as it has many facilities for water sports and is safe for them. There are many coves which will certainly delight the children. Ah! There are many cafeterias in and around the beach and the entire family will certainly enjoy the food served there.

Puerto Duquesa is another most preferred beach of Estepona. The beach is not crowded and as dawn sets in many eateries spring up with Chinese, Italian and French and of course Spanish dishes. The dishes are mouth watering. The food served in the eateries and the famous Spanish wine make a good combination.

This town is very close to Gibralter. Tour operators suggest parking the vehicle at the immigration office and walking across to Gibralter so that it is easy to cross the border. Many mini buses are available at the Gibratler and they even take the tourists on conducted tours. Of course Gibralter has many places of interest for tourists.

Guadalhorce Lakes is another place of interest and just at a distance of about 6 kms at a place called Alora which is famous for its turquoise colored water and rich vegetation. The woodland around the lake is certainly the most ideal place for those who want a quiet environment. Many sport activities like Canoeing, swimming and sailing are available.

El Torcal Nature Reserve is another place of interest. The famous Karstic landscape can be seen here. It is actually a hillock with beautiful rock formation and limestone complex which is believed to be about 150 million years old. One has to climb the hill by foot. For the convenience of tourists, different routes have been marked to reach different heights on the hill.

Depending on his convenience, the tourist can choose the height he can go up. At different heights view points have been made. The tourist can have a panoramic view of Malaga Valley, Africa coast line, etc. from these view points.
