Visiting Valencia And Porto Cristo

You will find the city of Valencia near the Costa del Azahar, so prepare yourself for wonderful weather, a relaxing time spent at the beach, crystal clear waters and picturesque landscapes. The city was founded by the Romans, but the Visigoths, the Moors and the Catalans also occupied it at one time or another in the past. Valencia is one of the cities in Spain that has something to offer to any type of person who decides to spend a few relaxing days within its walls.

The architectural style is one of its greatest attractions, as Barrio del Carmen can charm anyone with its ancient winding streets packed with monuments and buildings dating back to the time of the Romans or the Moors. The Cathedral is an exquisite monument. Its construction was begun in the 13th century, but it wasn’t until the 15th century that its last ornaments were put into place. A fine example of Gothic architecture, Valencia’s Cathedral also displays wonderful Romanesque and Baroque elements.

Also worth visiting is the Virgin’s Basilica, another beautiful example of Gothic architecture in Valencia. The Gothic architecture dominates the city. This is one of the reasons why many of the monuments that display this architectural style have been designated as “World Heritage” by UNESCO. The medieval churches are very numerous in Valencia as are the parks and gardens that will win your hearts with their colorful and wonderful smelling flower beds, so make sure you spend some of your time visiting them.
