Places of interest in Spain – Tarifa

One unique feature of places of interest in Spain is that they cater to the need of all sections of visitors. That means for nature lovers there are plenty of places to visit like vast beach, big parks and vast plain land rich in vegetation, etc. For those who want to spend their holiday visiting churches, etc., there are plenty of churches which were built centuries ago and these have marked their importance amongst the religious people.

Those who want to visit historical places have plenty of castles, monasteries, etc. to visit. Those who want to spend their holiday taking part in adventure sports have Tarifa which is a small town near the province of Malaga. Tarifa is located at a point where Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean meet.

Water sports:

The atmosphere in Tarifa is quite windy and it is most ideal for wind surfing. In addition to this, the place is also most ideal for kite surfing, fishing, boating, etc. Those who are new to wind surfing can enroll themselves for a training session. There are many schools or training centers where training in wind surfing is provided.

Of course windsurfing is a risky game and however much the surfer is experienced, he cannot escape the impending risk while surfing. If one is daring enough, he can certainly enjoy this game.The other place of interest is the place where the show of dolphins and whales is held. Regular shows are arranged to witness the mega event.
Church San Mateo:

This church is believed to have been built in the 16th century. It is built in typical Gothic style. The interior of the church is beautifully decorated with works of sculpture executed by eminent artists.

Arab Castle:

This castle is believed to be one of the oldest castles in Spain. Historians say that this castle was built in 960 AD under the orders of the King Caliph Abderrman III. According to archaeologists, the castle appears to have been built on a fort which is believed to have been built by the Romans. Just few minutes’ walk from the castle is the Jerez Gate. The local people worship this Gate with all religious fervor.

Caves:

The carvings are believed to be of Paleolithic period. Archaeologists say that these paintings are around 18000 years old. There are many carvings and pictures that are painted along the walls of the caves. Interestingly most of the painting works carry the photos of horses.
