Visit Palamos – The Tranquilizing Town

Palamos, Catalonia is a quaint fishing town that have very active marina. This charming village is also known for its beautiful sandy beaches stretching along Costa Brava coastline. Hotels, restaurants, villas, bars, nightclubs, stores and cafés line the market streets and during summers, the beach is full of tourists from all corners of the world. Visiting the village is a great way to acquire knowledge about this so-called ‘sailor town.’

The best way to start in from “Punta del Far”, a site with Costa Brava where you can see popular rocks named Sa Galera and La Mà de Gegant. From Punta del Far, you can get the mesmerizing sight of Palamos’s Bay. Early in the morning, one can see departure of fishing boats from the Palamos for which can be a spectacular experience.

Catalonia Avenue that is present at the center of town is a venue for weekly market that takes place here each Tuesday. You can take a stroll here and buy typical Catalonian products. Here you can get a glimpse of different kind of people who live in this town. After the market you can head towards various buildings and interesting monuments that are present in the town.

The Church of Santa Eugenia de Villaromà (c.XI), the Church of Santa Maria and the fisheries Museum are some examples. The Main Street is also equipped with nice restaurants and boutiques. Palamos’s Cannon is also a great patrimonial monument that is present in the town. During the sunset, you can watch a fabulous fish auction that takes place in Llotja. Llotja is also one of the best place to buy fresh fish.

You can visit La Fosca for a nice day trip. La Fosca is known for Roca de la Fosca which is considered as one of the most emblematic icons present in Costa Brava. Another nearby spot is cami de ronda, a perfect place to go for nice walk. These sites offer excellent view of the Costa Brava shoreline which is also one of the main attractions for travelers. St. Esteve is a medieval castle surrounded by the sea and mountains is also a great attraction. Cala Castell and Cala S’Alguer are some calm beaches in the place.

Discovering Palamos is one of the best ways to incarcerate the tranquil nature that surrounds the entire place, while enjoying the splendid landscape that that contains rocks, coves and beaches. Visitors can feel the thrill while they visit Palamos.
